VITA BEATS - Spot The Spanner 1985


The Vita Beats received lots of air play on JJJ for their single "Boom Box" , I'm pretty sure it was also used to promote Beatbox, a Saturday morning music video show on ABC tv.

JIMMY BARNES - For The Working Class man 1985

For the Working Class Man was the second album by former Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes, released in 1985 selling over 500,000 copies (7 x Platinum), meaning that one in forty Aussies already own this album, well for the other 39... here you are. Pretty sure it came out on CD, so grab it if you can find it.

THE REELS - Quasimodo's Dream '81

Regular Blog readers should of grabbed this already from overhere, I just wanted to post this one to show off the signed cover hehe. The Quasimodo's Dream album represents a unique moment in Australian rock history. The heavily synth-orientated sounds, reverb-less drums and lack of guitars contrasted sharply with the classic oz rock of the day, like AC/DC, The Angels, Rose Tattoo and Cold Chisel. The Reels' lack of mainstream commercial success was at odds with their strong live following, but it was due in part to the restrictive programming on commercial radio at that time, which gave little exposure to local "new wave" acts
